The sponsored walk will start at 10pm from Hospice in the Weald and follow a circular route along well lit roads towards Tunbridge Wells. Part of the route will be lit with flaming torches. Walkers will return to the Hospice to raid the larder for chocolate treats and hot chocolate and marshmallows. For further details call Tanya Ingham on 01892 820533 Worzels Needed! In Pembury we are surrounded by apple orchards
and you can be sure that there was once a thriving cottage industry in the
making of cider. As a project, both Rick Bayles and Paul Barrington-King would
wish to hear from anyone who has knowledge in the process of making cider in
the hope that we might form a working group to produce a small scale Pembury
brew. If we can achieve this perhaps we could have a Pembury Autumnfest Barn
Dance to sample the profits of our labours with any monies that are generated
going to a worthy cause. Pembury Musical Talent 1 November 2008 PMT is back again! Due to the immense support and appreciation for PMT last year I am planning to run it again this year. It was the first time that I undertook such an event, and I am very grateful to all those who helped with it last year, apologies to those who I did not thank in the newsletter after the event. All together we raised £665.16 for the Pembury Youth Club, and this year all the proceeds will go to Demelza House Children’s Hospice, a very worthy cause. The event will take place in the Village Hall on 1 November 2008, however only 150 tickets are available, so get in quick! I can confirm that three bands have already agreed to play again, and I hope the event is as fun as it was last year. Bill Slessor (Contact tel. no. to come) Baby Clinic Pembury’s Child Health Clinic is moving from Waterfield House Surgery to Pembury Baptist Church, starting 3 July 2008. The Child Health Clinic will be running on the first and third Thursday of the month from 1.30 until 3.30pm. The clinic is open to everybody, regardless of what doctor’s surgery you are with or where you live. It is available to all preschool babies and children and the health visitors are on hand to discuss any needs you have. Please phone 01892 839439 to speak to the health visitor team. Working together against crime We can work together to reduce crime in Pembury and make your home more secure. If you are interested in purchasing a shed alarm or a Passive Infra Red system (PIR) for your property at a small cost, then please get in contact with our Neighbourhood Watch Liaison Officer. Kent Police have obtained a limited number of property marking kits, which we are making available at a reduced cost. Using a property marking kit helps identify stolen property and deters thieves.
